Five Injured in Austin Drunk Driving Accident

March 23rd, 2012

In Austin on Hwy 290 on March 20, five people were left injured as a result of a drunk driving crash.  A Nissan and a pickup collided while they were both trying to cross the highway after the Nissan failed to stop at the red light.  Two occupants of the Nissan were ejected and sustained life threatening injuries.  Three other passengers from the vehicles were injured as well. MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) VS Restaurants

March 21st, 2012

The highway bill, passed by the Senate last Wednesday, included two provisions that are causing major uproar from those restaurants that choose to serve alcohol. The legislation would do two things: 1.)  Appropriate $24 million for a federal program that could lead to installation of alcohol detection systems as standard equipment for all vehicles; and 2.)  Provide $40 million in financial incentives to states that require anyone convicted of driving while intoxicated to put ignition interlocks in their cars. Toyota Recalls Over Half Million Vehicles

March 9th, 2012

In yet another recall, Toyota is recalling a sweeping 681,000 cars and trucks in the USA. 495,000 Tacoma trucks will be recalled in order to replace a part in the steering wheel assembly because friction may occur over time, causing the driver’s side airbag to not deploy in case of an accident. 70,500 Camrys and 116,000 Venza crossover vehicles will be recalled due to silicon grease use during assembly which may lead to electrical resistance that can cause the vehicle not to start of the shift lever not to move from the “park” position. For as much money as one pays for a car, one would want to assume the car is in perfect working order and that these manufacturers are assembling the cars correctly and safely.
