Class Action Suit Filed Against Mercedes

Tuesday, December 20th, 2011

Mercedes Benz has been hit with a class action lawsuit in California.

This lawsuit alleges that the premature wear in the M156 V8 engines leads to engine problems and in some cases failure of the engine.

The suit also alleges that both Mercedes and AMG have known about this issue since 2007.  The suit states that the camshafts used are made of cast nodular iron but the valve lifters used are made of 9310 grade steel.

The combination of these metals contributes to premature wear of the M156 motors.

Angry Honda and Toyota Owners File Auto Parts Price Fixing Lawsuit

Tuesday, December 20th, 2011

A class action lawsuit has been filed on behalf of a group of Honda and Toyota owners against eight auto part suppliers. The lawsuit comes after federal authorities released information exposing an international price fixing scheme.

This scheme may have cost American purchasers and lessees of a wide range of cars millions of dollars in the form of inflated car prices over a ten year period.

The defendants in this lawsuit supply automotive wire harnesses and related products in a wide range of Japanese and American built cars.

Authorities from the US and European Union and Japan have investigated a conspiracy in the market for automotive wire harness systems since February 2010 or earlier.

308,000 Motorcycles Recalled By Harley Davidson

Tuesday, December 20th, 2011

Harley-Davidson, Inc. is recalling approximately 308,000 motorcycles in order to fix a switch problem that can cause failure of the brake lights and possibly even the rear brakes themselves.

The company said that brake light switches can be exposed to too much heat from the exhaust system which can then cause the brake lights to fail.  In addition, the problem can cause fluid leaks and the loss of rear brakes.

The recalls affect those motorcycles built between June 6, 2008 and September 16, 2011.  The recall will affect 251,000 motorcycles in the United States alone with the balance being in other countries.

According to the Associated Press, Harley-Davidson, Inc. began investigating these problems in June 2010 when it received reports of several crashes occurring due to the problem.
