Tech International Expands Tire Recall

Wednesday, June 25th, 2008

On May 13, 2008, Tech International recalled one model of tire valves due to a defect in the rubber. The tire manufacturer has now expanded the recall to include five additional models.

The tires are being recalled due to a defective tire valve. The rubber on the valve may crack, which permits the gradual loss of air. Driving on under-inflated tires could put the tire at risk for catastrophic failure, which can result in a car wreck.

Tech International will replace the defective tire valve for free. If the tire has been damaged due to the defective valve, Tech International will replace the entire tire.

The model numbers affected by the recall are: TR413, TR413CH, TR414, TR415, TR418, and TR423.

Over 30,000 Bentley Continentals are Being Recalled due to Fire Hazard

Saturday, June 14th, 2008

A world-wide recall of Bentley Continentals has been issued. The recall affects all of the over 33,000 Continentals that were manufactured between March 2003 to March 2008. All four of the Continental models will require modifications due to the recall.

The recall has been issued due to a faulty fuel filter. Road salt can eat thorough the housing, causing it to fail. A failure of the fuel filter can result in leaking fuel and a potential fire risk.

No fuel fires have been reported and Bentley is conducting the recall voluntarily.

Bentley representatives have stated that the road salt used on icy roads has caused the fuel filter to rust and fail. So far, thirty-one Bentleys have been affected by fuel filter corrosion.

Bentley has developed a new fuel filter, with added protection against road salt, which they will use to replace the defective one.

Fatal SUV Rollover Prompts Lawsuit Against GMC

Friday, May 30th, 2008

A family in Texas has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against GMC and another woman for a two-car collision that occurred on May 24, 2006 and resulted in the death of a family member. The fatal collision was allegedly caused by a combination of driver negligence and manufacturer negligence for the defective design of the GMC Yukon.

The original report states that the family was driving in their 2002 GMC Yukon on the highway when the defendant allegedly crossed into their lane. The family tried to take evasive action and veered off the highway causing their SUV to roll over. The suit states that although the family in the SUV were wearing their seat belts and were properly restrained, the driver suffered severe head injuries, proving fatal, while the other passenger was seriously injured as the vehicle failed to protect them.

The lawsuit claims that GMC was aware of the design defects of the GMC Yukon, but they did not fix the design or warn customers of the problem. It also states that the family seeks actual damages, which are a result of GMC’s manufacturing defects.
