There is a fairly new device which trucking companies have the option to install in their vehicles to monitor their drivers. It’s called the truck’s “black box,” which is basically an information sponge; it can track nearly two-hundred different characteristics such as speed, braking, maintenance and hours driven.
Information such as this would be very useful for those involved in truck accident cases since it can provide concrete proof of code violations such as speeding, old or broken parts, hard-breaking, and driving for too long—preventable situations which can contribute to the risk of collision while on the road.
If installed on trucks, these devices will not necessarily make the roads safer. They will, however, make it easier for victims of negligent drivers to get the justice they deserve.
