A Nashville-based trucking company has been sued for $1 million in damages by a man who was injured after a speeding tractor-trailer overturned into his lane on the interstate.
According to the lawsuit, a driver for Western Express, was traveling west on the interstate highway near Monteagle when he struck the median and flipped into oncoming traffic.
The plaintiff was eastbound on the highway and was caught in the wreck. He alleged in his lawsuit that the driver and Western Express were negligent because the truck was speeding.
The plaintiff had to undergo surgery on his spine and has a diminished earning capacity, according to the suit.
The truck, carrying pallets of Bud Light, was traveling downhill at 77 mph when it hit the wall — more than 30 miles over the speed limit, according to the suit.
