A previous investigation concerning fires in General Motors vehicles has been announced as a full recall of 857,735 vehicles due to a problem in the windshield wiper system.

A potential short-circuiting in the system may cause problems with other electrical features of the vehicles, creating unpleasant odors or even smoke, and increasing the fire risk.

The car recall involves 2007-2008 model years of the following vehicles:
• Chevrolet Silverado
• Chevrolet Tahoe
• Chevrolet Avalanche
• Chevrolet Suburban
• Cadillac Escalade
• Cadillac Escalade ESV
• Cadillac Escalade EXT
