Mercedes Benz Recalls Thousands of Sedans
Over three thousand Mercedes Benz, 2008 S Class luxury sedans are being recalled due to a defective transistor.
The malfunction in question is related to the signal acquisition and the actuation module. If the defective transistor malfunctions, the driver may loose control of vehicle functions, which can result in a car wreck.
The transistors are being recalled due to manufacturer negligence. Before installation, they were not properly stored and were exposed to excess humidity. When the excess moisture that is built up, because of the humidity exposure, combines with thermal stress, damage can occur to the transistors.
Mercedes Benz will begin the recall in May. All recalled vehicles can be inspected at a Mercedes Benz dealership, where they will replace the transistor for free.
Currently, car wreck attorneys are working on cases in which serious or fatal injury has occurred in car wrecks due to auto defects.
