February storms have impacted traffic in Western Pennsylvania. Multiple car accidents in Clarion County and Clearfield County closed I-80 in four different places.
One person was killed in Pennsylvania in an accident involving three semi-trucks in Clarion County. Reports from the incident indicate that the driver of a tractor-trailer swerved over the center median and entered oncoming traffic, where he struck two other tractor-trailers.
Intense road conditions due to weather have been a factor in other accidents occurring all along I-80. Driving on icy roads in bad weather requires extra safety efforts to prevent accidents that result in injury, or fatality.
Remember:
- Drive at a slow speed
- Avoid sudden changes in direction
- Turn on the vehicle lights
- Maintain visibility by keeping windows clear
- Be alert
Driver negligence is a major cause of car wrecks resulting in serious injury and death. Failing to drive safely on icy roads and in bad weather can be determined as negligence.
